California Republican Congresswoman Young Kim is speaking against the president’s recent executive order to dismantle the U.S. Agency for Global Media, or USAGM.
“I would like to encourage the administration to reconsider their actions,” Kim said.
In an article originally published in National Review on March 19, 2025, Congresswoman Kim also wrote that the Trump administration must reform and restore the U.S. Agency for Global Media, not eliminate it.
Reforms at the USAGM are necessary, but entirely gutting the agency silences the voices of freedom-loving people around the world that have been oppressed by the Chinese Communist Party, Kim Jong-un, the Kremlin, the ayatollahs, and other repressive regimes dating back to the mid-20th century.
She repeated her message on CBS’s 60 Minutes program. However, the 60 Minutes report failed to mention multiple management scandals, breaches of security, and partisan reporting by a small group of Voice of America journalists, mainly in the VOA central English newsroom.
